Wednesday, May 21st, 2008: Bad News for Cleveland, Sizemore Injured
After the end of today's game between Cleveland and Detroit, Grady Sizemore skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing the ball, the Indians had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The center fielder will miss at least 7-8 weeks with a strained elbow ligament.

Presently Sizemore is batting .255 with 38 hits and 7 home runs. He has knocked in 25 runs and scored 34 times.
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008: Ouch! Jake Westbrook Shelved by Injury
The Cleveland Indians will lose the services of starting pitcher Jake Westbrook after he sustained a strained back muscle while throwing a pitch in today's game against the Detroit Tigers. "I'll get through it," Westbrook said. "The key now is to stay positive." His trainer said he is expected to be sidelined for the next 2-3 weeks.

This season-to-date Westbrook has 1 win and 4 losses and a 5.33 ERA.
Monday, May 5th, 2008: American Winner is Gload
No single hit brought Ross Gload Player of the Week honors -- the Cleveland Indians first baseman corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat.

"Hitting is all about discipline," said Gload. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes."

Concentrate he did. Gload stroked 12 hits in 22 at-bats while cranking out 3 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

This season Gload is batting .385 with 37 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 17 times and has 16 RBI.
