| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, May 16th, 2007: Season-Ending Injury for Joe Unknown
Doctors in Baton Rouge said Joe Unknown may not play anymore this year. The Golden Gators starting pitcher received a torn rotator cuff muscle during a game against the Durham Sparrowhawks and will be out for at least 8 months. Club officials told BNN they did not expect him to return to the team this season.

5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Luis Figueroa of the Steinbach Tigers. He tore up the Baton Rouge Golden Gators to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Steinbach 16-1 win today at Steinbach Grounds.
"Figueroa was a tough out today," the Baton Rouge manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
L. Figueroa hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Figueroa is batting .362 with 50 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 24 times and has batted in 24 runs. |
 | Sunday, August 6th, 2006: Unknown's Season Could be Over
Baton Rouge fans held their breath as Joe Unknown left yesterday's Sidearms-Golden Gators contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 22-year-old catcher had suffered a fractured cheekbone while being hit by a pitch. It's estimated that he will be out 7-8 months.
