Panthers Fall Short at Milwaukee
|
In a well-pitched game between the Milwaukee Oilmen and the New York Panthers, pitcher Jimmy Sanders was fantastic. The Milwaukee left-hander was named the player of the game in Milwaukee's 2-1 win. Milwaukee reliever Mario Brito was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Antonino Fresi took the loss. New York has now lost 5 consecutive games.
Milwaukee first baseman Jordan Bermudez said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the tenth. He did more than that -- Bermudez hit a solo home run to stake Milwaukee to a 2-1 lead. His 18th home run of the season came off New York pitcher Antonino Fresi.
"This win should put a little bounce in our step," said Bermudez.
