Cruz Leads Stags to Win
Chicago and Phoenix met at Bakers Ballpark in front of a lively crowd.

Ed Cruz added some punch to the Chicago offense, helping them outmuscle the Phoenix Bakers, 14-7. In the game, Cruz, who is rated as the 79th best prospect by BNN, was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Tatsuyuki Yoshimura converted his 1st save in 2 tries.

Chicago took the lead in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Bobby Hill stroked a run-scoring single to make it 6-5, Stags.

Stags manager Jaap Snellrijder wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."

The third-place Stags improved to 27-28.
