Rhoads, Yaks Fall to Samurai
|
The Los Angeles Samurai overcame a good performance by Seattle third baseman Dean Rhoads to knock off Seattle, 9-7, at Ballpark of Seattle. Rhoads went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Los Angeles reliever Matt Stillman was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Chris Williams took the loss for Seattle. The Samurai, with only their 1st win in 4 games, have not had much to write home about in 2035.
Los Angeles pinch hitter Mike Thompson said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the seventh. He did more than that -- Thompson hit a 2-run home run to stake Los Angeles to a 6-4 lead. His 1st home run of the season came off Seattle pitcher Chris Williams.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Thompson.
