Samurai Get 5-3 Win Versus El Paso
|
The Los Angeles Samurai picked up a win at Toros Ballpark, knocking off the El Paso Toros, 5-3. Starting pitcher Nate Ebersole, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Ebersole, now 10-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 2 earned runs. With the win over El Paso, the Samurai improved to 91-71.
Tied up with the Toros in the top of the fifth inning, the Samurai got a boost from left fielder Matt Orrell. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Orrell saw a first pitch cutter from Henry Salazar and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Los Angeles on top, 3-2.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Ebersole. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
