Spikes Shut Out Stampede
|
Left-hander David Gamero mesmerized the Columbus Stampede while leading the Jacksonville Spikes to a 7-0 victory. At 16-9, the Spikes have played well so far.
The Spikes got an important contribution from left fielder Brian Wood, who in the top of the fourth punched a 1-0 fastball into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Spikes ahead, 2-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gamero told the Jacksonville Today. "It's as simple as that."
