Thrilling Victory Pushes Spikes Win Streak to 5
|
The Jacksonville Spikes beat the Milwaukee Oilmen, 6-3, at Oilmen Ballpark. Jacksonville second baseman Matt Rothenberger earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The 4th-place Oilmen have lost 4 consecutive games.
The most crucial at-bat for Jacksonville came in the top of the tenth inning. That's when Rothenberger stroked a 1-2 fastball to right for a 3-run home run, putting Jacksonville up, 6-3.
"There's no quit in this team," said Spikes manager Felix Tores.
