Ramirez Lifts Spikes to 8-1 Triumph
|
The Jacksonville Spikes thumped the Milwaukee Oilmen, 8-1, at Oilmen Ballpark. Alex Ramirez was a big reason his team got the win. Ramirez went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Carlos Napolitano, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Oilmen to no earned runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Oilmen, at 7-16, have stumbled out of the gate.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the batter, Alex Ramirez, hit a 3-run home run. It helped Jacksonville seize the win.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Ramirez.
