Stampede Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Columbus Stampede stopped the New York Panthers, 8-4, at Panthers Ballpark. The Stampede got a big game from Jaylen Williams, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Steve Silber was called on to finish, recording his 5th save. The Stampede, now 9-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Stampede grabbed the lead when Jose Ruiz rapped a two-out home run. Columbus was trailing 2-1, when Ruiz hit a grand slam home run off Matt Davison to put his team in front, 5-2.
"I believe in our guys," said Columbus skipper Jake Skorski. "I like the energy they're playing with."
