Thursday, September 13th, 1877: Storey Superb Against St. Louis
John Storey of the Boston Red Caps was lights out in a 4-hit whitewash of the St. Louis Brown Stockings.

He told BNN reporters, "I had my good stuff and it went where I wanted it to go."

He registered 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in shutting out St. Louis 10-0.

In 39 starts this season, Storey has picked up 21 wins while suffering 15 losses. He has pitched 315.2 innings, allowed 328 hits, struck out 79 and posted a 2.39 ERA.
Saturday, August 4th, 1877: Super Swinger -- Kron Slams 5 Hits
It was a parade of hits for Fred Kron of the St. Louis Brown Stockings... one right after another... a total of 5 for the day. He ravaged the Cincinnati Reds for 5 hits in his 6 at-bats. But the Reds rose to the occasion and rained on his parade with a 6-5 win.

"Kron was really good... we were just a little better," said the Reds manager in the postgame interview. "It's all right with me if he gets 5 hits every game against us, if we win."

F. Kron singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.

This year Kron is hitting .298 with no home runs.
Wednesday, August 1st, 1877: Brown Stockings Anderson Strong-Arms Grays
Jack Anderson of the St. Louis Brown Stockings not only shut out Louisville 3-0, he made it look effortless. Anderson stopped them on 6 hits to help the Brown Stockings cruise past the Grays. His performance included 3 strikeouts and no walks.

In 1877, Anderson has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 12-6 won-lost mark and a 1.93 ERA. In pitching 163.1 innings, he has totaled 43 strikeouts and 16 walks.
