Tuesday, August 28th, 1877: Banks Blanks Cincinnati
Mike Banks allowed 6 hits while giving up no walks and collecting 5 strikeouts as Hartford blanked Cincinnati 7-0.

In the postgame interview Banks said, "I'm trying to keep the ball down and let guys put it in play. It worked for me today."

In the 1877 season Banks has recorded a 5-3 mark. In 8 starts he has fanned 18 batters in 61.2 innings with a 1.90 ERA.
Monday, August 27th, 1877: George Marion Suffers Injury
George Marion of the Hartford Dark Blues could be headed for the disabled list after suffering a strained groin muscle in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. He is expected to miss at least 2 weeks. The Hartford second baseman was injured running the bases. Marion said, "Right now I am pretty sore and I don't feel very good at all."

Thus far this season Marion has hit .262 with no home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 42 times.
Saturday, August 11th, 1877: Buteau Goes 5-6
At Union Grounds in Brooklyn Ed Buteau was the King of Swing today in the 10-6 win over the Red Caps.

The Hartford center fielder stepped into the batter's box 6 times against the Boston and delivered 5 hits.

It was a sensational game for him. He told the press, "Unbelievable feeling. Unbelievable. It felt good. It felt great. What a day! 5 for 6! It does wonders for your batting average, too."

E. Buteau singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off B. Lamacchia in the 9th.

Buteau is swinging at a .314 pace on the year with 1 home run, 13 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has played in 38 games.
