Wednesday, October 27th, 1875: Hartford's Hedgepeth Will Miss Season
The doctors have spoken and Tom Hedgepeth of the Hartford Dark Blues didn't like what he heard. The 28-year-old center fielder is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Hedgepeth sustained his season-ending injury during the Chicago White Stockings game yesterday at Hartford Ball Club Grounds. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the Hartford medical staff reported Hedgepeth had a torn hip muscle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4 weeks.

In 1875 Hedgepeth has put up a .268 batting average with 98 hits, no home runs and 54 RBIs.
Saturday, August 21st, 1875: Van Houten out for 4 Weeks
Hartford fans will be disappointed to learn that Jack Van Houten developed a strained rotator cuff muscle while throwing the ball in today's game. After the doctor informed the Hartford Dark Blues manager that Van Houten was expected to miss 4 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the second baseman could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

In his stats this season, Van Houten has posted a batting average of .280 with 74 hits in 264 at-bats, 2 home runs and 46 RBIs. He has also scored 59 runs, walked 2 times and compiled a .293 OBP.
Friday, August 20th, 1875: Stanley Hits in 33 Straight Games
The hot bat of Atlantics catcher Mike Stanley continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 33 games after he went 2-for-5 in today's 7-6 loss to the Dark Blues at Union Grounds.
M. Stanley flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

Stanley is hitting .367 this year with no home runs, 20 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 158 at-bats, 1 walk and a .369 on-base percentage. Stanley has played in 33 games.
