Saturday, October 3rd, 1874: Lindsey Tosses Shutout
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus. He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

And that's what Jake Lindsey did as he led the Atlantics to a 6-0 shutout victory over the Canaries.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," the Baltimore manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

Lindsey yielded 4 hits and had no strikeouts and no walks in a standout performance.

In 1874 Lindsey has 4 relief appearances and a 2-1 record with no saves. He has logged 22 innings and allowed 28 base hits. Opposing clubs have put up a .259 batting average against him. Lindsey has rung up 2 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walks and fashioned a 4.91 ERA.
Friday, August 21st, 1874: Jack Wheeler Not Happy in Baltimore?
It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Baltimore were buzzing with the news that their 34-year-old reliever Jack Wheeler had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Baltimore or wanting to leave." said one person.
Friday, August 7th, 1874: Canaries May Deal Washer
In the latest churning of the rumor mill, reports indicate that 32-year-old reliever Gid Washer of the Baltimore Canaries could be on the trading block. While the player refused to comment, the team did not outright deny the claims. "If it'll help this team, we'll make a move," said one team official.
