| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, July 27th, 1875: Red Stockings, Athletics Make Trade A trade between Boston and Philadelphia was made official this morning. The Red Stockings have sent 34-year old reliever John Turner to the Athletics in exchange for 27-year old shortstop Joe Ringer.
Turner has compiled an ERA of 2.33 so far this season, winning 4 games with 7 losses and no saves. In no relief appearances he has hurled 88.2 innings, yielded 104 hits and struck out 7. Opposing hitters have batted .249 against Turner.
|  | Wednesday, July 21st, 1875: Ross at His Best, Blanks St. Louis Fred Ross of the Boston Red Stockings was lights out in a 6-hit whitewash of the St. Louis Brown Stockings.
He told BNN reporters, "I had my good stuff and it went where I wanted it to go."
He registered 2 strikeouts and no walks in shutting out St. Louis 1-0.
This season to date, Ross has fashioned a 11-17 mark and 2.07 ERA in 235 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .234 against him and he has logged 17 strikeouts. |  | Tuesday, June 22nd, 1875: 20-Game Hitting Streak for Stanley Nobody has been able to shut down Mike Stanley of the Atlantics in recent games. Today at Union Grounds he picked up 2 hits in the Brooklyn 4-3 victory over the Red Stockings and stretched his hitting string to 20 consecutive games. M. Stanley singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th.
For the season, Stanley is hitting at a .386 clip with no home runs, 17 RBIs and has scored 20 runs.
