National Association News Article | |  | Thursday, October 22nd, 1874: Polansky Tags Red Stockings 5 Hits The Atlantics whipped the Red Stockings 10-8 at Union Grounds and Bob Polansky had a big hand in the win. The Atlantics center fielder came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Polansky and a tough day for Boston.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Polansky delivered today -- 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
B. Polansky singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
During the 1874 season Polansky has hit .399 with no home runs and 36 RBIs. He has played in 55 games and scored 78 times. | |
