The top votegetter in this year's Eastern Hemisphere Batter of the Year Award balloting was Jorge García, the outstanding Durban left fielder.
He finished the season with a .350 batting average, 156 hits, 6 home runs, 66 RBIs, .442 OBP and 104 runs scored.
This weekend the SION Baseball Writers Association will present the trophy to García for being the EH's top-rated batter. He will receive it at the group's annual awards dinner.

 | Monday, August 6th, 2007: Filali: Big Hit in the Eastern Hemisphere!
All week long Osano Filali was the toughest out in the Eastern Hemisphere and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.
The Durban third baseman rapped out 9 hits in 19 at-bats for a .474 batting average, drove in 15 runs and scored 6 times.
This season Filali is hitting .248 with 25 home runs.

| Wednesday, August 1st, 2007: Filali Wins Best Bat Award in July
Osano Filali, the Durban Sharks third baseman, certainly made his name known to Eastern Hemisphere hurlers over the last month. He consistently introduced himself with hit after hit and came away with July's Eastern Hemisphere Batter of the Month award.
He slashed and bashed his way to a .333 batting average while tallying up 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He also worked EH pitchers for 14 walks and a .441 on-base percentage.
Filali has a .246 average and a .353 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 62 hits, 22 home runs and driven in 63 runs.
