Christchurch rode the magical arm of Charles Hudson in a 9-0 shutout win over Chicago. He shackled them on 3 hits and fanned 9. Almost to a man, the Chicago Wind said he had them guessing wrong all game long.
In 23 starts this season, Hudson has recorded 9 wins and absorbed 6 losses. He has pitched 161.2 innings, allowed 151 hits, struck out 176 and has a 3.90 ERA.

The Cairns manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about Fabiano Jlio, who had just hurled a fine 2-hit shutout over the Christchurch Harbor. He had 7 strikeouts and 5 walks in the Cairns 5-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the Christchurch manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
This season to date, Jlio has fashioned a 5-5 mark and 4.08 ERA in 97 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .232 against him and he has logged 85 strikeouts.

 | Sunday, June 17th, 2007: Bravenboer Tosses Shutout Against Christchurch
Andreas Bravenboer was downright nasty in pitching a 4-0 shutout against Christchurch. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Harbor were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 2-hit shutout the Basilica hurler chalked up 9 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
This year Bravenboer has posted a 9-2 mark in 15 starts and has a 2.45 ERA.
