| Breaking News | | Tuesday, July 24th, 2007: Munchen's Mateo Out 2 Weeks
Jesús Mateo had to leave the Biere game against Marseille after suffering a fractured wrist while being hit by a pitch. He will be out of the lineup at least 2 weeks. He told SION reporters, "I just felt a sharp pain when it happened. I knew there was something wrong."
Mateo is hitting .354 this year with 11 home runs, 45 RBIs and 71 runs scored. He has 125 hits in 353 at-bats, 38 walks and a .451 on-base percentage. Mateo has played in 92 games.

Today the Eastern Hemisphere announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Munchen first baseman Chang-yong Zhu. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers.
For the week he batted .440 (11-25) with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.
So far this year Zhu has hit .320 with 13 home runs, 57 RBIs and scored 46 runs.

Jesús Mateo has the tools to stick in this league for many years, but it might be a long time before he has another week to compare with this one. The 23-year-old right fielder of the Munchen Biere dominated the Eastern Hemisphere over the past seven days to win Player of the Week honors.
Mateo batted .700 with 14 hits in 20 at-bats, no home runs and 1 RBIs.
So far in 2007 Mateo has hit .364 with 8 home runs and 29 RBIs. He has played in 56 games and scored 45 times.
