| Breaking News | | Friday, September 14th, 2007: Canada Second Baseman Injured The Canada Maple Leafs were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Stéphane Rodrigues was likely to be out for 2 weeks after he injured himself colliding with a player at a base in today's game against the United States Uncle Sams. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be a concussion. We just have to do the best we can until Stéphane is back in action."

It was tremendous day for Katsuyoshi Murata, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 6 barrage.
The Canada first baseman told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm 'not dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then in a split-second decide to try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
K. Murata singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
Currently Murata has 36 home runs and a .274 batting average. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 82-72, .532 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 25.0 GB | | Record at home | 50-27, .649 PCT | | Record on the road | 32-45, .416 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-4, .636 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 24-16, .600 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 27-25, .519 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 55-47, .539 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in May | 21-8, .724 PCT | | Record in June | 11-15, .423 PCT | | Record in July | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in August | 15-14, .517 PCT | | Record in September | 7-7, .500 PCT |
