| Breaking News | | Friday, August 24th, 2007: Rumors Swirling in Auckland; Mcquade Wants Out Allegedly, Troy Mcquade has asked to be traded from Auckland. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great. | | Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007: Rowland Hurls Masterpiece He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Fred Rowland of the Toronto Canucks blanked the Auckland Knights 3-0.
After tossing a complete game 1-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Rowland walked 1 and struck out 10 in the victory.
The Knights manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."
Rowland has made 29 starts this season, posting 17 wins and 4 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .213 against him and he has 223 strikeouts in 212.1 innings with a 3.01 ERA. | | Monday, August 20th, 2007: Rigbye On Fire! 5-6 for Auckland! Today the Knights downed the Canucks 18-8 as Andre Rigbye sprayed hits all over Knights Ballpark in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
The Auckland center fielder said to SION reporters in the postgame interview, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of very pretty pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."
A. Rigbye hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off R. Rowsell in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off A. Abe in the 8th.
This season-to-date Rigbye has 17 home runs and a .257 batting average. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 58-72, .446 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 14.0 GB | | Record at home | 28-37, .431 PCT | | Record on the road | 30-35, .462 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-1, .833 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-13, .606 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-17, .370 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-55, .466 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in May | 16-12, .571 PCT | | Record in June | 9-19, .321 PCT | | Record in July | 11-15, .423 PCT | | Record in August | 13-11, .542 PCT |
