| Breaking News |  | Saturday, September 1st, 2007: High on the Hit Parade, Zwartbol Voted #1 Rookie
Irving Zwartbol gets his bat on the ball fast. The 28-year-old rookie snapped out 32 hits and a .264 average to capture August's Eastern Hemisphere Rookie of the Month honors.
Last month the The Netherlands first baseman piled up 4 home runs, 14 RBIs, scored 21 times and had 7 walks for a .315 on-base percentage.
So far this year Zwartbol has 8 home runs and a .194 batting average.

South Africa pitcher Iyasu Al-Fayed blanked the The Netherlands Oranje 1-0, tossing a 5-hitter while issuing no walks and collecting 10 strikeouts.
After his sharp shutout performance, he said that he gives a lot of the credit to his batterymate. "Me and him are just locked in out there. He's so great at having a feel for hitters. I couldn't do what I'm doing without him."
So far in 2007 Al-Fayed has compiled a 13-4 record with a 2.26 ERA.

 | Friday, July 20th, 2007: Fernández Hurt, Listed Day-to-Day
The Netherlands's star starting pitcher José Fernández injured himself in a game against the South Africa Bafana, prompting the team to list him as day-to-day. The doctors are reporting the injury as a finger blister and the best medicine is a short period of rest. "Hopefully I don't get replaced by some hotshot wannabe," said Fernández with a smile as he talked to SION reporters.
In 2007 thus far, Fernández has tossed 156 innings in 21 starts, fanned 179 batters, walked 63 and put up a 2.02 ERA with 9 wins and 6 losses.
